Flight
Attendant Jean D. Roger, of
Longmeadow wasn't scheduled to be on American Airlines flight 11. As she did on
many days, Roger reported to Logan International Airport, ready to take the
place of anyone who called in sick. It would be the luck of the draw for her to
end up on any given flight.
Roger, 24, a Longmeadow High School graduate, had been flying standby filling in
on flight crews all month, splitting her time between Boston and her parents'
Longmeadow home, said her father, Thomas H. Roger.
"We understand from the flight attendants who saw her that she was happy to pick
up this flight. This was one of the premiere flights out of Boston with one of
the number one crews. She was not disappointed," he said.
