I wanted to provide some information for my sister Deborah Fontakis who was a Flight Attendant on Flight 587.

Debbie was a Flight Attendant for American Airlines for over 26 years.  She was very organized, efficient and hard-working.  In 1994 I was a passenger on a flight she worked going to London in 1994.  It was very funny to see her working.  It was especially interesting to see her expressions and mannerisms with the passengers and to know what she was really thinking behind her professional face.  Although she was a Flight Attendant Debbie was also many other things. She was beautiful and fun.  She was brave and strong.  She had a dry sense of humor which most people (although not all) found to be very funny.  She was talented and very giving of her time and her talents.  She did  a lot of things for our family and her friends such as sewing curtains and dresses.  Debbie was a supportive Mother to her 2 beautiful teenage children.  She was a good wife and perfect match for her husband.  She was a conscientious daughter and went to all of the family events that her schedule allowed.  Our Father passed away in June and I am glad that he was spared losing Debbie in this horrible way.  Debbie was also a terrific Aunt to her 5 nieces and nephews.  Whether it was collecting bugs or dolls she was great with them.  But most of all she was a wonderful sister and a real friend.  She will be missed by me and everyone who knew her.

Thank you for letting me submit this tribute to my sister.
